Grants and Funding

We have three types of grants and awards for students. These are Rural Fieldwork Grant (RFG), Student Research Grant (SRG), Student Thesis Award (STA) and University Students Essay Competition (USEC). For the RFG and SRG, the maximum funding that can be awarded is $100. The STA has no financial award, only a certificate is offered. We take expressions of interest all the time. Rural Fieldwork Grant (RFG)

The Rural Fieldwork Grant is for small projects run by social work students in rural communities in Africa. The projects could be undertaken as part of placement or voluntarily. Use the form below. Only one grant can be given per year. Deadline is June each year. Applications are considered anytime but the award closes as soon as the grant is taken.

Student Research Grant (SRG)

The Student Research Grant is for honors, masters and PhD students of social work who are undertaking a research project in Africa. To apply use form below. Only one grant can be given per year. Applications are considered anytime but the award closes as soon as the grant is taken.

Student Thesis Award (STA)

The Student Thesis Award is for honors, masters and PhD students of social work who have completed and passed a research project. To apply use form below. Applications are considered anytime but the award closes as soon as the grant is taken.

University Students Essay Competition (USEC)

Students are given a topic for an essay competition. The competition opens in June and closes in August each year. More details are provided towards the opening date.
