Ahmed Ben Bella
Ahmed Ben Bella was a key leader in Algeria’s war of independence and became the first
President after the country gained freedom from France in 1962. He pursued socialist policies
and aligned Algeria with other liberation movements. His government was overthrown in despite his short time in office, he is remembered as a founding figure in modern Algeria.
