Charwe Nehanda
Charwe Nehanda, often referred to as Mbuya Nehanda, was a spirit medium and leader of the
First Chimurenga in Zimbabwe. She was captured and executed by the British in 1898. Her
resistance inspired future liberation fighters. Nehanda is remembered as both a spiritual
figure and national heroine.
