Cleopatra VII
Cleopatra VII was the last ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt. She sought to preserve
Egypt’s independence through alliances with Julius Caesar and later Mark Antony. Known
for her intelligence and political skill, she resisted Roman annexation. Her defeat by Octavian
led to Egypt becoming a Roman province. She remains one of history’s most famous female
rulers.
