Jomo Kenyatta
Jomo Kenyatta was Kenya’s first Prime Minister and President after independence in 1963.
He advocated African self-rule and played a central role in negotiations with the British. His
presidency focused on economic development, education, and Africanisation. Though later
criticised for centralisation of power, he is honoured as the father of the nation.
