Mansa Musa
Mansa Musa ruled the Mali Empire in the 14th century and is known for his immense wealth,
especially revealed during his pilgrimage to Mecca. He established Mali as a centre of trade,
religion, and learning. Under his leadership, cities like Timbuktu flourished. His legacy
continues to be referenced in discussions of African precolonial greatness.
