Massinissa
Massinissa was the first king of a unified Numidia, in present-day Algeria and Tunisia.
Initially allied with Carthage, he later supported Rome during the Punic Wars. After securing
victory, he helped establish Numidia as a powerful North African kingdom. Massinissa
promoted agriculture, literacy, and urbanisation. He is considered a pioneer of North African
independence.
