Obafemi Awolowo was a Nigerian political leader known for his advocacy of free education
and federalism. As Premier of the Western Region, he pioneered social programmes that
improved literacy and health. He ran for national leadership and remained a key opposition
figure. His economic and political ideas influenced generations of Nigerian leaders.
