Queen Nzinga
Queen Nzinga was a 17th-century ruler of the Ndongo and Matamba kingdoms in present-
day Angola. She is known for her diplomatic skill and military leadership against Portuguese
colonisers. Nzinga negotiated peace treaties, converted to Christianity for political reasons,
and later led armed resistance. Her reign symbolises defiance and resilience.
