Yusuf ibn Tashfin

Yusuf ibn Tashfin was a Berber leader and co-founder of the Almoravid dynasty, which extended from present-day Morocco into Spain. A devout Muslim and military strategist, he led campaigns to defend and expand Islamic rule in the Maghreb and Al-Andalus. He established Marrakesh as a political and religious centre. His rule stabilised the region and preserved Muslim rule in parts of Iberia.
