Mentoring Timeline

Implementation timeline (2 years)

• Q1 (quarter 1), March–July 2026: Planning stage. Recruitment of mentees and mentors, forming of the core team.
• Q2, August–October 2026: Pre-workshop and pre-programme stage. Co-design of the in-person workshop and co-design of the mentoring programme (remote).
• Q3–Q4, November 2026–April 2027: Indaba (online webinars). Induction and commencement of programme, matching mentees with mentors, online induction to the programme, monthly mentoring sessions (1:1).
• Q5, May–July 2027: In-person workshop. Four-day intensive workshop covering research design and Afrocentric and decolonial frameworks , manuscript writing for high-impact publications, discussion and implications , and submission planning. Monthly mentoring meetings. 
• Q6–Q7, August 2027–January 2028: Post-workshop. Monthly mentoring meetings, peer feedback, manuscript submission, development of a mentoring protocol informed by lived experience.
• Q8, February–April 2028: Ongoing mentoring sessions. Evaluation.
