USAID dead aid: list of charges by its own people
When aid bulldozes the cultures, philosophies, dignity and aspirations of others in society, this is unjust, disempowering, bullying and colonising. From the White House, the United States Aid (USAID) has been described as an ‘insane, abusive, wasteful, unaccountable that has funded ridiculous and malicious programs’. These are the words of its own people, President and government. One of the major charges is running DEI programs, which means diversity, equity and inclusion. These programs were used for sex change projects, fluid gender identity laws and activisms to silence opposing views in and outside the USA. Below is a short list of some of the USAID expenses that the White House reported to the public:
- $2 million for sex changes and activism in Guatemala
- $1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia’s workplaces
- $70,000 for the production of a DEI musical in Ireland
- $47,000 on a transgender opera in Colombia
- $32,000 for a transgender comic in Peru
- $16 million in funding for institutional contractors in gender development offices
- $4 million of funding for the Center for Climate-Positive Development
- $12 million in support services to the Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security
- $3 million in non-emergency funding to provide evaluation services for planning and learning programs
- $600,000 to fund technical assistance for family planning in Latin America
The USAID funds a lot of social work and development programs throughout the world. Some of their programs override local cultures, cause friction in communities and families, and therefore disempower, the opposite of what social work and development seek. For years this was not strongly questioned, but we saw it. Many times we are silent (or is it silenced) but we should speak. It’s not USAID alone, many international organisations, associations and institutions are like that, including professional associations. But, we keep them going, doing the wrong and malicious things because we do not speak or because we want aid to keep coming. When we don’t speak, they will never realise that aid of that nature is dead aid.
