Join us in recognising the Day of Older Persons at Wazee Day 2025, an important event dedicated to raising awareness about dementia and supporting healthy ageing. This event is organised by Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA) and Mtandao.

This year’s theme is Educate, empower, prevent Dementia!!. The session will be led by Dr Emmanuel Bukajumbe, who will present on Dementia Explained: risk factors, symptoms, care, and prevention.
Whether you are a carer, professional, student, or community member, this event offers valuable insights into dementia care and prevention strategies that can improve the quality of life for older people.

Dr. Emmanuel Bukajumbe is a Ugandan-trained physician (MBChB, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, MUST) with advanced training in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MPH, Melbourne) and Medicine (PhD, Newcastle, Australia). His PhD focused on the relationship between olfaction and cognition through the novel Olfactory Stress Test. With expertise in Internal Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science, he bridges clinical care and research. He currently practices as a General Practitioner in Australia and serves as Board Chairman of Hatchile Consult Limited, a social research company in Uganda.
