Nana Yaa Asantewaa
Nana Yaa Asantewaa led Asante resistance against British colonial rule in 1900, defending
the Golden Stool. Though captured and exiled, she remains a national heroine in Ghana. Her
leadership in battle challenged patriarchal norms and inspired future independence
movements.
