Robert Mugabe
Robert Mugabe led Zimbabwe to independence in 1980 and served as Prime Minister and
later President. His early leadership focused on education and reconciliation. Later, he
initiated land redistribution and was accused of authoritarianism and economic
mismanagement. Mugabe’s legacy remains contested both within and outside Zimbabwe.
