Dr Mzukisi Xweso’s appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Ubuntu | Nyingi waUbuntu
Dr Mzukisi Xweso’s appointment as Editor-in-Chief on 1 March 2026 marks a significant milestone for the Journal of Ubuntu | Nyingi waUbuntu. Since joining as a founding board member in 2024, his contributions have been rooted in a deep commitment to African-centred philosophies and transformative scholarship. A Senior Lecturer at North-West University, his expertise in social work and community development provides a robust framework for exploring the interconnected layers of Ubuntu—spanning the personal, spiritual, communal, and environmental.

In this leadership role, Dr Xweso will guide the journal’s multidisciplinary focus on the dimensions of ukama, ujamaa, ujamii, imvelo, and uroho. His research often highlights the philosophy of ubudlelane, which emphasises compassionate sharing and mutual solidarity. By bridging traditional knowledge with modern academic inquiry, he ensures the journal remains a vital space for decolonising education and addressing the lived realities of marginalised communities.
